Lightning silences Giuliani
WASHINGTON, June 6 (UPI) -- Republican presidential hopeful
Rudy Giuliani was silenced temporarily by a lightning strike
in Washington after being questioned about his religion.
The former New York mayor was asked for his response to
recent comments by a religious leader who compared him to
Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who the Bible says
condemned Jesus to death, when a lightning strike outside
the venue briefly cut off power to his microphone, CNN
reported Wednesday.
"For someone who went to parochial schools all his life,
this is a frightening thing that's happening right now,"
Giuliani joked.
The candidate then defended his positions on religion and
abortion.
We made a formal prediction, despite the low importance of
the event. The results show a slight positive outcome, but
are consonant with a null effect. Chisquare is 3534.7 on
3600 df, for p = 0.339, and Z = 0.416.
