Madelein Schreiber sent an email to suggest a remarkable
change in Google China's search activity might relate to the
GCP. Here is a page describing the large change
corresponding to a respectful moment (3 minutes) of silence
honoring the victims of the recent earthquake in Sichuan.

A plot from Google China search log:
Google China’s blog (in Chinese) mentions a Google
search query log which dramatically shows the moment of
silence and mourning on 2:28PM on May 19 for the victims of
the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan.
Apparently, even Google search queries fell off dramatically
during that three-minute moment of silence where Chinese
stopped everything they were doing to observe a moment of
silence.
The graph says it all.
We set a prediction for the period 2 pm to 4 pm,
corresponding to the visually obvious changes in the graph.
The chisquare is 7288.009 on 7200 df, for p = 0.231 and
corresponding Z = 0.736.
What is more interesting is the actual 3 minute period
beginning at 2:28pm (the time of the quake itself on the
12th). The next figure shows this moment in the GCP data. It
has a strong and steady deviation over the time, with Z = 1.885 and p = 0.03.
